Mastic gum is the sticky, resinous, yellow to white sap of the Pistacia lentiscus tree. Mastic gum has culinary, cosmetic and medicinal uses. It is chewed as a gum; used in liquor, desserts, cheese and bread; and is believed to possess healing powers.
